Some in the hearing community are often unaware of the problems and difficulties encountered in every day situations by the hearing-impaired. Through CHIP’s Outreach program community leaders, hospital staff, religious groups, staffs of senior and nursing homes, CEGEPs and service clubs are made aware of these difficulties and possible solutions.

Technological advances in assisitve listening devices to benefit the hearing-impaired to communicate and hear better are also discussed.
The Outreach Program is designed to:
- Help people adjust to hearing loss;
- Increase understanding of hearing loss;
- Raise awareness of those working with or caring for the hearing-impaired;
- Share strategies about our own hearing losses and how we cope;
- Publicize various CHIP programs; and
- Describe and show the latest assitive devices; and explain Government services available for the hearing-impaired.
